125th Anniversary of the Gotthard Railway (Part 4)


 After spending the night at Locarno the Eurovapor/IGE Bahntouristik special travelled to Luino on the 9th Sept. The train is seen here hauled by Be4/4 no.14 approaching Cadenazzo where it reversed and travelled on to Luino behind 01202 which was bringing up the rear.

 

Whilst 01202 (and 011066) spent the day on display at Luino, Be4/4 no.14 stayed on the Swiss side of the border at Cadenazzo. (9th Sept 2007)

 

Predictably, the small display at Luino featured mainly Italian locos including this preserved E428. (9th Sept 2007)

Like SBB Cargo, Railion also use G2000 diesel locos on non-electrified lines in Italy. Here is one such example on display at Luino. (9th Sept 2007)

Later in the day 011066 and 01202 worked back into Switzerland hauling the Eurovapor/IGE Bahntouristik special train. The pair are seen here approaching Cadenazzo where 011066 was taken off. (9th Sept 2007)

 

After 011066 had been removed, Be4/4 no.14 coupled to the rear and hauled the train and 01202 to Locarno where it once again spent the night. (9th Sept 2007)

 

01202 brings up the rear as the Eurovapor/IGE Bahntouristik special train enters Locarno. (9th Sept 2007)
